Why is my mouth itchy after I eat certain foods?

November 16, 2015 By Elizabeth Tapp

If your mouth becomes itchy after eating certain fresh fruits or vegetables, you may suffer from oral allergy syndrome. Oral allergy syndrome is a inflammatory reaction to a food related to your pollen or tree allergy.

Some people may tolerate cooked fruits or vegetables to which they have an oral allergy syndrome reaction. This reflects an overactive immune system which can usually be calmed through diet.
